Facebook Virus Removal

This article provides information on how to remove Facebook virus wall posts and what to do when your FB account gets compromised by spammy and malicious apps. Do note that the term "Facebook viruses", as this article uses, actually refers to clickjacking scams, hoaxes and rogue Facebook apps.

• To get rid of Facebook viruses (i.e clickjacking scams, rogue apps, hoax messages and facebook chat spam) uninstall rogue applications you have provided access to your account. You can stop these spammy apps from abusing your account by removing them in your list of applications. Go to account settings > apps and websites > click x mark beside app name to remove.

• You may also want to remove all of the automated posts made by the rogue app. To do this, find those messages in your wall or in your friends' walls and mark these as spam:

• "Facebook virus chat" messages may have prompted you to install toolbars or plugins into your computer. Make sure to uninstall these as they can change the settings of your PC or worse, threaten the privacy and security of your computer. It's also a good idea to scan your computer for any possible virus or malwares using a legitimate antivirus (beware of rogue AV softwares).
