The Facebook timeline remover app is one example of a rogue facebook application. It promises to provide a non existent Facebook feature to opt out of timeline. Once you authorize this remove my timeline app to "post on your behalf", you will notice that it does not actually work. What it does is spam using your name to get others to install it with its misleading claims:
