Worm Steals Facebook Passwords

Facebook virus

Ramnit on Facebook
Ramnit worm, a malware traditionally known to harvest financial login credentials is now reported to be preying on Facebook users. Seculert Research Lab reports that to date, the ramnit malware has already stolen more than 45,000 Facebook login credentials worldwide. Majority of these compromised accounts are reported to be from France and UK.

Protecting Yourself from Ramnit

1. Make sure to use strong passwords. Avoid using the same password in your online accounts. Cybercriminals behind the ramnit (and similar other password stealing malwares) exploit this type of poor computer security practice to harvest login credentials.

2. Always think twice before clicking links or opening file attachments sent to you by your Facebook social contacts. These links may redirect you to malicious pages that may prompt you to give away your account details (e.g passwords and user email).
